17 additional Embraer E175 for Alaska Airlines


Alaska Air Group on Thursday confirmed an order for nine additional Embraer E175s for its company Alaska Airlines and its subsidiary Horizon Air. At the same time, SkyWest Airlines has ordered seven more E175s, which will be operated on behalf of Alaska Airlines.

At the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer’s list price, the Alaska Air Group order is $ 449.1 million, and Skywest Airlines’ order is $ 399.2 million. Alaska Airlines, which has just joined the Oneworld alliance, currently has 62 Embraer E175 jets in its fleet, operated by Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines. The E175s ordered will be configured in a 76-seat three-class cabin, and delivered from 2022.

With this new order, SkyWest Airlines will have a total of 220 E175s, one that it operates on behalf of other North American companies, including Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, etc.

“The E175 is truly the backbone of the North American regional market. Embraer’s market share in the region’s 70-90 seat segment is 85%. Currently, 588 E175s serve US and Canadian carriers to cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central America, « said Mark Neely, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Americas at Embraer Commercial Aviation.
